SMEG stands for something and it is Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla. It is a manufacturer that is based in Italy that makes high end appliances for the home. This company’s beginnings came in 1948 and it was thanks to Vittorio Bertazzoni. The times may have changed but this company’s roots are still deep in Italy.
Smeg currently offers several refrigerators in various designs designed to combine functionality with art. Perhaps what they are most famous for are the refrigerators under the FAB range. These refrigerators have soft, rounded curves similar to the 50’s style. They come in a variety of colors that are not so conventional like pastel blue, pink, and lime green. Some limited edition refrigerators even come in stripes.
Also available in Smeg’s showroom are free standing refrigerators in classic lines. These come in stainless steel and follow the traditional look of their contemporaries. They also have the piano design – called such because these Smeg refrigerators are propped on wooden stands resembling a piano’s legs. They come in pale blue and cream, but are also available in stronger colors like dark blue, red and dark yellow.
